Acupuncture treatment can focus on a specific condition such as back pain or menstrual problems, and it can be used to support other medical treatments such as relieving nausea associated with chemotherapy.
It is effective in pregnancy management and is increasingly used to support IVF treatment. Ear acupuncture is often used to help overcome addiction, including smoking. It can generally be used to reduce stress, improve sleep and help boost digestion, immunity and well-being.
The World Health Organisation recognises acupuncture as an effective treatment for a wide range of physical and emotional conditions (please see link below), including
- Neck, shoulder and back pain, sciatica, weakness and paralysis (including bell’s palsy, post-stroke etc), strains and sprains, arthritis etc
- Headaches and migraine
- Menstrual problems: pain, PMT etc, including infertility
- Stress, depression, insomnia
- Breathing difficulties, including asthma, sinusitis and hay fever
- Digestive disorders, including nausea, distension, diarrhoea, constipation etc
Acupuncture is also useful for:- chemotherapy support stopping smoking
- pregnancy management (nausea, back pain, induction etc)
- IVF support
- sports injuries menopausal symptoms
- fatigue anxiety low immunity
